A Clean Break
Written by joan on March 1, 2009
I was dating this guy for about a year and my need to be clean drove us apart. He wasn't a total slob but he wasn't exactly what I would call clean. Eating chips and peanuts on the couch was bad enough but nothing worse than when he would cut his toenails, who knows where those clippings went. So I kept a hand vac by the sofa. I had to vacuum everyday just to keep my sanity. At first all he had was one of those cheap vacuums, so I had to buy a heavy duty one to keep the carpets tolerable. His bathroom sink had dried toothpaste in it all the time. There was always some kind of stain at the back of his refrigerator and I wasn't about to guess what it was. The toilet bowl was just horrid and I'll just leave it at that. Dirty pans just sat on the counter for days. Thank god we didn't live together. And I'm just scratching the surface here. I just got tired of telling him to be cleaner and I'm sure he got tired of hearing it. In the end we're both happier being apart. And to think I wouldn't have never met my fiancé. Lucky for me he happens to be just as much of a clean freak.
