When a car is detailed, it is deep-cleaned and restored inside and out so that it meets or exceeds the original condition. Kitchens can also be deep-cleaned. While it takes some elbow grease and a few hours of your time, there is a payoff. Your kitchen will sparkle, feel like new – and it won’t attract pests like ants and cockroaches. Here are five steps to get the job done.
- Start with the easy stuff: Begin by reorganizing kitchen cabinets, including the spice rack, under the sink, and so on. Remove everything from the cabinets and wipe them all down using a damp cloth and All-Purpose Cleaner. The spray will clean and disinfect — which is great if you’re bothered by household pests. And speaking of critters, don’t forget to place all your open food in airtight containers.
- Tackle the fridge: The fridge is one of the hardest working appliances in the kitchen. Remove all the food, throw out the rotting yuck, and wipe up all the spills. After you put back the food, tackle the outside with All-Purpose Cleaner which is safe and effective for cleaning stainless steel.
- Don’t forget the dishwasher: The dishwasher is another kitchen workhorse that you don’t appreciate until it breaks. Clean the food scraps from drain trap at the bottom, remove the bottom rack and use a clean sponge to remove the debris. Use your all-purpose cleaner to scrub away odors from door seal gaskets, the flatware basket, and around the soap door.
- Microwave crust: Cleaning the microwave is a breeze; fill a glass container with 16 ounces of water and some cut up lemon chunks, microwave for three minutes and let it sit for five. This will soften the baked on mess in the microwave which can be removed with a wet sponge.
- Get organized: Once your cabinets, counters, appliances, and floors are clean, consider a peg board for storing pots and pans, a small lazy Susan for inside the fridge, and plastic bins for storing cleaning products.
