How to Clean Your Shower in 9 Easy Steps

Even as “passionate cleaners” that take pride in an immaculate home, cleaning the bathroom shower is something that we always dread – and is always last on the chore list. Don’t fret; with these nine easy steps, cleaning your shower will be quick and easy.

  1. Empty the goods. Remove shampoo bottles, razors, loofahs, and all rubber duckies. Be sure to grab the bath mat and no-slip floor stickers as well.
  2. Rinse away. Using some type of cup or bucket, rinse the walls and floor of your shower with hot water. A hand-held shower head will also do the job. You just want to get all of the dirt, hair, and other gross stuff down the drain and out of your way.
  3. Remove mildew. Put some rubber gloves on and spray the walls of your shower with Soft Scrub Mold & Mildew Stain Remover Spray. Spray 6-8 inches from the surface. Then, use a sponge to scrub problem areas. Rinse with hot water. Finally, be sure to wipe the shower walls dry to prevent new mildew from forming.
  4. Clean your shower door or curtain. You can also use Soft Scrub’s Mold & Mildew Stain Remover Spray to clean mildew stains on shower curtains or hard-to-clean soap scum on glass shower doors. Just spray and rinse. If you want to clean your shower door tracks, just spray this and let them sit for one hour. Then, rinse with hot water. To clean your shower-guard or sliding glass door, try using Soft Scrub Total All Purpose Lemon Cleanser.
  5. Get rid of scum. First, run some hot water to create steam. Then scrub your shower tiles well with Soft Scrub Total All-Purpose Bath & Kitchen Cleanser to remove soap scum and hard water deposits. Use a cleaning toothbrush between the tiles. If you’ve neglected your shower for a long time, a paint scraper can gently loosen the build-up and Soft Scrub with Bleach Cleanser Gel will dissolve it. Keep your ceramic shower tiles clean every week with Soft Scrub Total Bath & Bowl Spray. Just spray and wipe for a clean, spotless shine.
  6. Scrub the tub. Apply Soft Scrub with Bleach Cleanser Gel around the walls of your tub. Scrub with a sponge starting at the top and working your way down. Then rinse with water and take pride in your sparkling clean tub.
  7. Don’t forget the shower head. It’s hard to get clean if your shower head is dirtier than you are and failing to spray water. Clean the shower head Soft Scrub Total Bath & Bowl and scrub the holes with a toothbrush (preferably not your husband’s). If the shower head is really bad, take it down and soak it in vinegar overnight.
  8. Time to shine. The hardware in your shower is really your pride and joy of the whole bathroom. Restore it back to its original glory by wiping away greasy fingerprints with Soft Scrub Advanced Surface Gel. This works well on stainless steel faucets, and even granite and marble vanity tops.
  9. Drain Pain. We obviously left the best for last: the much-feared “cleaning of the drain.” Just think of it as taking off a Band-Aid – quick and painless. Grab a garbage can or a plastic bag. Then, using a large crochet hook or clip clothespin, yank the hair out of the drain and swiftly throw it away. Ewwww! By the way, you may want to use rubber gloves for this part. To disinfect the drain, spray some Soft Scrub Total All-Purpose Cleaner with Bleach Spray directly into the drain. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse with water. See, that wasn’t so bad.
