Should You Clean Your House or Hire a House Cleaner?

Modern life can be hectic and a full calendar leaves little time for relaxation. Unless you’re the type who unwinds with a little housecleaning after a frantic day (yes, such people exist) then you might want to considered bringing in professional help. Here are a few things to consider.

  1. What’s Your Worth: If it takes 3 hours to clean your house and you earn $50 an hour, that’s $150 of your “time value.” If you can hire a professional cleaner for $75, you’re $75 ahead in the time value game.
  2. Stress Relief: If you’re hit with a big project at work, your parents are coming to visit, or you’re caring for an aging parent, hiring someone to clean your home leaves you one less thing to worry about. Stress is unhealthy and coming home to a sparkling house can be a great relief after a tough day.
  3. Clean and Healthy: A clean home is a healthy home. Dirty kitchens and bathrooms are breeding ground for germs and bacteria. They attract disease-spreading pests like cockroaches. Dust can be an allergen. With today’s larger homes, it’s harder than ever to stay ahead of the natural grime that accumulates around the house. A professional cleaner can scrub away the ick and keep the house healthful.
  4. Deep Cleaning: Professional cleaners perform “standard” tasks like dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens. They can also asked to take on deep cleaning projects that have long been on your “to do” list. This includes cleaning blinds and windows, tackling tough stains on the carpet, or scrubbing up that basement shower.
  5. Treat Yourself: Most professional housecleaning services have flexible schedules and no contracts. You can hire professional help on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. Or use a cleaner on those occasions where you just need a break to maintain your sanity.
